Confusing for beginners

As a beginner this app is confusing to me. It seems to simply show letters & words that begin with those letters. But what about the other 2 forms of each letter (for if its in the middle or the end of the word, & which ones connect to the following letter & which ones dont?). There is definitely material to be learned here but without additional resources I seriously doubt that anybody could become proficient with Arabic script using this app alone.
